I cannot find an expression for the greatness of blessings that we all are showered with and as an individual, we all are stricken by hardships in order to turn us back to Almighty Allah and to be among those who appreciate and stay content of every single thing that we are blessed with. Every servant is tested and these trials are not meant to change the situation for us instead it transforms and teaches us to be patient when things cannot go our way as we expect, during trials we often get fuming and always decide to do something evil. Trials come in different forms to a believer and as mentioned in the Glorious Qur’an.
“Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. “Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people”.”
Surat Al-Baqarah (The Cow) [2: 286]
Be among those who are patient during trials and content with what Almighty Allah has bestowed upon his servants. “Seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.”
Surat Al-Baqarah (The Cow) [2: 153]
Today’s youth are unduly curious about the affairs of others and often acquire the latest happenings of an individual’s life and instead of helping, people often sprinkle more problematic toppings to the current trial that an individual undergoes through. The heart is likely to rest and feel relief if it is settled with Allah, and it will worry and be anxious if it is settled with people. Avoid hurting others because the pain you cause them may come back to you in another form, Allah is just, all hearing and you’ll be held accountable for your actions. Today, in majority case we are off the right track at a certain point, we often judge and complain of our condition without developing an understanding of a particular situation. As one would expect a lot to seize in terms of wealth and property and we all are in a game where we race and compete with one another to make someone envious and to form one’s prestige among people, we often cross the limits without actually understanding and we lose certain essential things around us gradually for not appreciating it and are so focused on attaining and chasing materialistic things. As an individual we fail to recognize and appreciate the little of what we have and when we lose it all, it’s then we realize that little was more than enough.
Nowadays, people often want their actions to be captured while approaching to those who are lower in status and in such cases, people tend to show off one’s good deeds to display their deeds with praise and admiration of others but they don’t realize these people are attention seekers and please the people instead of pleasing his Creator in private who has blessed us abundantly and the reward of it rests in the hereafter. As a believer, we often hide our bad deeds and acts.
“Those who spend their wealth [in Allah ‘s way] by night and by day, secretly and publicly – they will have their reward with their Lord. And no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.”
Surat Al-Baqarah (The Cow) [2: 274]
We expect a lot and chase this world but we often forget to be thankful for the blessings that we are bestowed with, for our lives, our physical appearance, for the position that we earn in this life, for the hidden blessings that has been pouring upon us and especially the prayers of those who have been praying silently for our better lives ahead, yet we often forget to stop our work for a moment and just appreciate the things we are surrounded with. Sometimes, too much of this world and its materialistic possessions may not be even good and that’s when we are stricken by hardships in order to shake us and make us realize that the surrounding and every living and non-living thing around us is temporary and to make us realize the truth and to repent before things may turn out even more severe and misguide our soul.
Try to find positive and good in every situation during the struggle, we often blame ourselves for not having a better and stable lifestyle, but we don’t realize that the hardship that one may face is, in fact, a blessing to make us repent and walk towards the right path. We rely on people and expect more from them to understand and help us, but we often lack the understanding that while we chase this Dunya and its people, it’s, in fact, hopeless and the one who gives us hope and ease at the end is our Lord, Allah the Almighty. The moment when we are afflicted with trials and hardships we turn to Allah and he gives us patience and comforts our trial and in an instant when we step out from the hardships, we often forget the importance, no matter during the trials that one may face or an easy and comfortable life we live in, never forget to be thankful because in both the situation we often leave him behind but the moment you turn and have a look, he (Allah) will always be there to comfort and ease your hardships and he never leaves our side and yet we distance from him.
The current youth is in a state where they cannot see success within their own family or community, be it education, work, physical appearance, and wealth. The gatherings these days are more often a gossip corner that not only makes an individual prove their superiority and pride moment but it reflects and displays their own hatred and evil soul, there is nothing to gain with these acts.
The more you appreciate what you have, the more you will be given by Him. The more you complain about what you don’t have, the more you’ll distance yourself from Him. Be among the thankful and grateful ones.
